Dudley Zoo becomes first Zoo to receive Dimensions autism friendly recognition award

Dudley Zoo received recognition from Dimensions for its inviting atmosphere and efforts to create a more inclusive environment for visitors with sensory needs.

Zoo manager Matt Lewis expressed his gratitude to the charity for their support and guidance, saying he was “incredibly proud.”

The zoo has also implemented signs and information boards to assist visitors in identifying “sensory environments” throughout the site.

Additionally, ear defenders and fidget toys are available to guests, and they have created an online story to help neurodivergent guests prepare for their visits.

There are a few basic changes that can be made… but all in all, Dudley Zoo is already autism accessible, inclusive and (most importantly) welcoming.
